Well, it's another quiet day. Which is good.

The report from the doctor today was that we are in recovery mode. We don't have anything urgent to deal with. We are just waiting. They are adjusting ventilator levels and sedation levels, watching to see how Garren responds.

Thank you to all of you for your fasting and prayers yesterday.

We will continue to look for "baby steps" from Garren, and I of course will keep you updated.

Recovery mode is a good place to be and nothing urgent to deal with is even better! We continue to post the responses because we want them to be a reminder to all of you, every second, that we're all waiting with you.

Thank you Jesus for holding Garren in your loving arms while he rests in You.
Happy 14th Birthday to you Garren.
Keep looking to Jesus, He is the answer.

John 20:31
But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.

I never really knew Garren that well when he went to Porter Ridge but i knew he was an amazing guy. When i heard about what had happened to him i was shocked. The first thing i did was close my eyes and pray. On facebook and many places around Porter Ridge we have all been praying for Garren. At lunch yesterday afternoon many of the football players signed a jersey for him. Everyone had cards and almost all of 8th grade was wearing yellow in support of his recovery. Im still praying for Garren to this day. Many people on friday i asked why arent you wearing yellow, they would say they didnt know him, and i would respond by saying i didnt either, but as a believer in Christ i think this is a time to pray for him if you knew him or not. I've read all the blog postings and i find it sad i pray every minute of the day for him to get better, & happy birthday Garren!

Happy Birthday Garren! The Kanipes are lifting you up and praying for seeds of hope every day...A blink, a foot, etc. We are praying when we sit, lie down, and wrestle. (Let me explain) Today 30 wrestlers (Chase had a tournament today) at Marvin Ridge wore a blue shoe lace in Garren's honor. We are beside you in prayer for the long run!

It was so great to see you and Nancy today. Just to let you know we read your blog as often as we can. Sometimes the same one more then once. We love all of you and pray that the Lord above keeps you well and comforted. Garren is young and strong and I know that he is safe in God's arms right now. We will visit again as soon as we can. We never stop thinking about you guys. Love Rich & Sandra

Hope is a beautiful thing! I wanted to share this story for Garren's Birthday. I found this young lady and her family by chance. Her name is Kassidy and she and the family live in CA. I've been in contact with them. They have information they'd like to send to your family.

Kassidy's AVM ruptured on 08/04/08 when she was 13. She celebrated her 14th birthday on 08/30/08 in Rady's Children's Hospital while still in a coma. It's been a long road, but here's what Kassidy posted on her blog 01/24/11. She's an inspiration, and she, along with her family, have vowed to pray for Garren. I pray each new day renews your hope and gives Garren the strength to take those baby steps. This is a true testimony, that with God, all things are possible.

hey guys,
kassidy here,

I know that its been FOREVER since i wrote on here! If you didn't know, I'm having 1 final surgery on my eyes so I won't see double. They will be strengthening the muscles in both of my eyes for driving purposes. It's no big deal and the doctor said that I'll be watching t.v. that night! (i'm really excited about surgery!)
well... I don't have my stability dog yet... and I am BEYOND bummed about it. They keep pushing back the date and i want it tomorrow! ha ha but i just know that if it's taking this long, then God has to be making it perfect! And also, the other day i was giving blood... and i passed out! but it wasn't tragic or anything i was just out for a couple of minutes. i'm good now! Tomorrow my grandpa k.d is coming out and i can't wait because he likes all the good restaurants and were going to all of them! I swam with the dolphins about 2 months ago and it was awesome!!! I got to do it for free to because it was for Rady children's hospital. Last but not least...I GOT MY PERMIT!!! awwww yes i am practicing my driving and no i have not stolen the car yet! lol Oh, I forgot to mention that I am back at Karate. I'm doing it all by myself without anyone helping me. My forms and kicks are looking good. I'm scheduled to get my 2nd degree black belt in the Fall, I'll keep you posted. So I expect to see you there! lol...Thank you again for all of your prayers and support. I'll have my family update Caringbridge after the surgery to let you know how it went.

God bless
Kassidy

I taught 5th grade at PRES when Garren was there! I remember a wonderful young man and wonderful, involved parents! I was shocked to hear about what happened, but I am praying constantly for him! God is Good and His hands are moving in this situation! Your strength and faith are a testament to the rest of us, as well! Love and prayers to all of you! Megan Charlton
