Southbrook:Monroe Grand Opening

We got into our building for Christmas Eve services...we have been worshiping on Sunday mornings for about a month...now it's time to officially introduce Southbrook:Monroe to the community. On Sunday February 22 we will celebrate our Grand Opening. It's time to take our church to the next level. It's time to step it up in every area of ministry.

What needs to be done?

1) Invite, invite, invite. Ask everyone you can to come and be a part of this celebration with us. We will have invite cards available soon.

2) Volunteer - if you are willing to help out, please do. We need people to make phone calls, coordinate plans, serve food, and a number of other things. Want to help? Email Nancy now!

3) Be at our special volunteer training lunch on Sunday February 8. We will meet right after the morning service...we'll get started around 12pm. If you are currently involved in a ministry, or are interested in helping out in a ministry, you need to be there. Or if you know someone who would like to get more involved, bring them with you.

God is about to do some amazing things. I would ask you to join me in prayer for this event, and for other big events we are going to plan during the year. Our goal is to reach people who are far from God and bring them into an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.

Fire Inspection & Bathroom Stalls

We are one step closer to having offical occupancy. I met with the Monroe Assistant Fire Marshal today and we did our final walkthrough. He signed, I signed, and we were on our way.

All we are waiting for now is the final building inspection. We are waiting on the HVAC company to repair one of our heating units. The part is being manufactured and should be here in the next couple of weeks.

As I write this, the bathroom partitions are finally being installed. Finally, some privacy for those who need it!

Here's a sneak peak at what has been done so far:

Have a great day!

Sunday @ Southbrook: 01/25/2009

Another great day - another great service...

Thank you first to all the amazing volunteers who know how to get things done. You guys are amazing! So many of you go above and beyond...making our church a special place to worship.

Today we continued our journey through the book of Hebrews. Pastor Rob talked about angels, and their relation to Jesus. Jesus is great than the angels. Jesus created the angels. The angels worship and serve Jesus.

We also had the privilege of hearing from two of the men who were on US Airways flight 1549 that crash landed in the Hudson River last week. Very interesting to hear the story from the perspective of someone who was there.

We've got a lot coming up in the next few weeks. I hope you're ready! We are going to need everyone to pull together and be a part of what is coming next. More details coming soon.

I hope you all have a great week!

US Airways Flight 1549 - Survivor Interviews

I want to invite you to join us this weekend at Southbrook:Monroe. Last week on our Weddington campus Pastor Rob interviewed Dave Sanderson and Don Norton, two of the men who were on the plane that crash landed in the Hudson River last week.

It is a great testimony of God's grace and miracle working power. Our Monroe campus is a video campus, and we will be showing the interview this weekend. Service starts at 10am.

Be sure and bring a friend (or two)!

Sunday 01.18.09

After a close call with the heat last night we were able to have services with heat today. That's a good thing...it was cold today.

We had a great service -
  • The worship team did a great job leading.
  • We had more first time guests today.
  • We had some second timers come back as well.
  • I shared the 2008 year in review and we watched the year end video.
Things are continuing to progress. Teams are being solidified. Volunteers are stepping up. I cannot wait to look back on 2009. We are going to see some amazing things happen this year.

Finally...

I've been trying all week to update this blog. Everytime I tried I got some kind of error. Couldn't connect or something...but now it seems to be working fine.
So here's a summary of what's going on in my life:
  • It's been a full week. I have spent a lot of time with people who are struggling with their marriages. I have dealt with all kinds of relationship issues. It seems like 2009 is going to be a tough year, for a lot of people, in a lot of ways.
  • I will be setting some goals in the next week or so. Nancy and I are going to set some family and personal goals together later next week. I am excited and terrified all at the same time at what God is going to lead us through this year.
  • I have seen some amazing things happen with finances - getting the Monroe Campus open in time for Christmas eve. We are still about $12,000 in need. The work has been done, that's just the amount we owe to contractors. But I know that God will provide...pray for that with me.
  • I'm looking forward to another great church service on Sunday. We have so many amazing and dedicated volunteers - in every area of ministry. It would be impossible to make the weekend service happen without your help!
  • We had three first time guests last Sunday - AWESOME! I can't wait to see who God brings our way this weekend.
I hope you have a great weekend. See you Sunday!
