Day 18.

The docs have been weening Garren off of the ventilator. Yesterday they dropped his rate to 4 breaths per minute. He did well breathing over that. Overnight they had to bring the rate back up to 6 because he got a little too relaxed while he was sleeping. This morning they put Garren on pressure support for a 3 hour trial. Pressure support basically means Garren does all the breathing on his own, the ventilator just supplements his breaths to help inflate his lungs a little bit more than he would on his own. He did great with the trial, and this afternoon they put him back on pressure support. The plan is to leave him there unless something changes.

We are still waiting to move to rehab. We are waiting on the insurance company, jumping through all the hoops and meeting all the requirements that they have in order to admit him there. Hopefully tomorrow we will be moving.

Please pray for Nancy and myself as we will be heavily involved with Garren's care as well as a lot of the rehab process. From everything we hear, we will be working hard - which is great, I'm tired of sitting here. Those of you that know me know that I am a doer, not a watcher.

There continue to be a lot of uncertainties and unknowns going forward. Please continue to pray for peace. Looking ahead into this dark tunnel of uncertainties continues to be a challenge for both of us.

Thank you all for everything you have done and continue to do!

I don´t know you, I know David Harrill and from I heard this miracle-to-be situation, I have taken it to heart and there are soooo many more people touched and praying for Garren, you and your family.
These words are for you:
1. ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10
2. Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail). Psalm 55:22 (AMP)
3. The Lord is good, a Strength and Stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows (recognizes, has knowledge of, and understands) those who take refuge and trust in Him. Nahum 1:7 (AMP)

And now I am pretty sure you can quote Job (Job 42:5) I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.
My prayers is with you, my brother in Christ. Marilyn from Panama

I know it's hard to see the light, but it's there...you move toward it a little every day. We keep hearing about baby steps, but in the grand scheme of things, Garren is taking leaps and bounds. We're so proud of his strength and so blessed that he has you and Nancy. He has a HUGE cheering section, so no doubts he'll do well in rehab. God is definitely allowing all of us to be witnesses to this miracle, so without you having to ask, know that prayers continue to flow for all of you. In for the long haul, The Sisk Family

Trust

long days
and
unknown roads
ahead

and
the fog is
so thick
in the darkness

but
my hand
is
held safely
and
I feel
the scars
and trust
Him.

My prayer is that you feel His hand tightly holding yours!! Continuing to pray for Garren's healing. And peace, patience, and perseverance for all of you!

As earthly parents we give our children all that we are and all that we have . . .and how much more is this so with our Heavenly Father to us. Be strengthened in knowing that your Heavenly Father knows what you have need of; He holds you and Garren in His capable hands and He will empower you in the days ahead to do the tasks that you are called to do to help your son. Continuing to pray for you, Nancy and your girls.

We continue to pray many times throughout each day for healing for Garren, protection for all of you, and peace, patience, and strength for you and Nancy and your girls. I thought about you a lot reading Psalm 91, one of my favorites. Let yourselves soak in those promises from our God...

Coming off the vent is 2 steps forward and 1 back. Garren will come off completely when he is stronger. We are praying for today's miracle. For Garren to do something new.

I will say not to look ahead brother or you will sink, there are too many unknowns that our imaginations love to make up the worst scenarios to. It was when Peter took his eyes off Christ and looked around at the storm that he began sinking. But the part I love is he couldn't get much out except, "Help Lord!" and it was enough. Immediately Jesus reached for him and pulled him up and both walked on the water to the boat, and again, Immediately, they were at their desired haven. Meditate on the awesome power of God over our storms and the Holy Spirit will give courage for another day. Still standing in the gap for all of the Janes family.
