Garren - Day 2

Thank you for the amazing outpouring of love and support, both for Garren and for the rest of us. Facebook, Twitter, email, texts, phone calls, visits, it's been amazing to see God's family coming together over us in this way. Thank you.

Just to catch you up - Garren had what is called an AVM. This mass of "tangle blood vessels" at the base of his brain, which is something that he was probably born with, ruptured in PE class yesterday.

The surgeons at CMC Main in Charlotte removed the AVM and now Garren is in PICU, recovering. We have not been able to speak to Garren. He is still unconscious, and they have him on medications to keep him sedated. These next few days will be all about allowing the brain to recover from the trauma that occurred.

At this point we know nothing about what will happen next. The doctors will watch him, they are doing and have done everything they can.

I would ask you to pray for Garren's recovery. Pray that he will heal, and that he will get back to normal.

If you want to visit, we welcome that. I or Nancy will gladly meet with you in the waiting area. Many have asked what you can do to help. Right now, we just need to get through the next couple of days. Then we will have a better idea of what's next. We will get a game plan together, and we will welcome your many offers to help.

Thank you again for your love and support.

Geoffrey, Nancy, Kara and Kelsey

Father God, That we may praise you in all things. Thank you for Geoffrey and Nancy and how you work so powerfully thru their lives. I ask that you give them physical and mental strength in abundance for the difficult days ahead. Thank you Lord as we are able to see your church in action and coming together to be all that the Janes family needs at this time. You truly are an awesome God and we rejoice with confidence that you are in the midst of all that is going on. We love you Lord and offer Garren up to you for healing. For you are the great healer and redeemer. We ask and pray in your Son's most holy name.

Pastor,
I received a request through Facebook to pray for a student who was in surgery yesterday. I did not know for whom I was praying, but I know the God to whom I was praying and I had full confidence that He was hearing my prayer and the prayers of many others. I just received notice that it was your son. My daughter, her husband, and her family attend Southbrook, and I was there for my grandson's baptism in the fall. I know that God has a purpose in this event, but I wanted to send you the prayer that I prayed and typed on Facebook for him last night. Here it is, and I continue to pray it:

Wanda Connell Parks February 4 at 7:03pm
God be with this student and his family at this time. You are in the miracle business, so touch his body and especially his brain right now. I pray the surgery will prove itself a total success! Most of all, I pray that you will make yourself known in a special way to this boy and His family. You are in control. Amen.
