Nancy's Dream

Hey everyone - Nancy shared a dream she had last night. I asked her to write it out so I could share it with you. Here goes (you might want to grab a box of tissues):

Monday night I spent the night at the hospital with Garren. During the night I had a dream.

I dreamed Garren and I were sitting at our kitchen table at home. He was telling me about a dream he had. He said he was walking down a country road on a sunny day. On the side of the road he saw a lit lantern. He thought it was a very strange place for a lantern especially since it was lit. He walked over and picked it up. He said when he picked up the lantern everything went dark. He said, "Mom, it was really strange that everything was dark but it was so cool I had that lantern to light my way. I could keep walking. I couldn't see very far out but it was enough to light my baby steps."

I'm not really a dream person but that night I woke up and felt a new peace that God was leading Garren's baby steps in a special way.

"For you are my lamp, O Lord,
and my God lightens my darkness."
- 2 Samuel 22:29

"Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path."

- Psalm 119:105

Some days I get frustrated and want so badly to see big steps that I lose sight and miss the joy of the baby steps. God is lighting this path and we trust him fully to lead where he wants us to go.

Thank you so much for faithfully praying with us and for us and for rejoicing with us in Garren's baby steps.

Thank you too for all your texts, emails and blog comments. These seem to come at just the right time when we need a lift and a reminder of God's love and guidance. If you have sent a personal text or email and you haven't gotten a response, please know it is appreciated. We are trying to reply to these as we have time.

- Nancy

When you said ..."(you might want to grab a box of tissues)":....I thought you were being sarcastic but you were being serious! It is amazing how connected a human being can be in just a few sentences. I have always had vivid dreams and for you to share your dream with us is something special. Thank you.
Love you,
Rebecca Lloyd

What a wonderful and encouraging dream. God hears and answers our prayers, no matter what form they come in, or how tiny they "seem" to be, they are mighty. Just hearing Garren talk to you in a dream is such a blessing. Thank you for sharing it with us. We continue to pray for Garren and your family. We love you all more than you'll ever know.

Awesome. I have to share this. Last week one of the children's memory verses was Psalm 119:105. We were using the NIRV Kid's Study Bible. "Your word is like a lamp that shows me the way. It is like a light that guides me." What an amazing dream. We are so happy that Nancy is finding some peace in midst of the turmoil!

Thank you for sharing Nancy's dream. God speaks to us in so many ways... this was most encouraging. I love hearing about Garren's "baby steps" although turning his head and feeling him squeeze your hand sound like huge steps to me! I praise God for His faithfulness and thank Him for these new steps as I continue to pray for Garren's complete healing. We love you guys!

Our family is praying Ephesians 3:20
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power taht works in us"

We did not know about your blog until I heard it from Kaitlyn
Rogers (a former student of mine and a former classmate of Garren and Jacob at Porter Ridge).

Last night, we read several post. We looked at the pictures of when Garren was baptisted. I loved reading the words that you spoke to your church on Feb. 27th. They are so encouraging to know that God is holding your family up in this time.

As I thought about your words and I looked back at a picture that I have of Jacob and Garrin from last years poetry reading, I was reminded of Eph. 3:20. And that is our prayer for Garren. We know that God is able to go beyond whatever we ask or think!

I know that I have never meet you and Nancy but I'm lifting you up in prayer daily as many others are.

Thanks for sharing!
Love,
Paige Warner (mom of Jacob Warner)

Nancy, I had no idea you all were going through all of this. Jodi called me today and I was shocked. I remember when you were expecting your Son and had him just a short time before I had Emily in March. Words cannot express what I feel for you all. I want you to know that if you need anything please feel free to let David and I know.
I will pray for all of you every day. I am so sorry you all are going through all of this. Please know that we are here for you.

Nancy, what an amazing dream! I love that God blessed you with this dream! As I read it I actually was able to picture both the talk with Garren at home, and his dream. I believe that God is communing with Garren as he is healing, and I can only imagine how wonderful that must be for Garren. I am praying for you all and love you!

God is good to us. He often comforts me in dreams. I think He uses them sometimes because we are so busy and preoccupied when we are awake. When we go to sleep He can get our attention. We are praying for all of you. I found a picture of a brain in a magazine yesterday and I put it on the refrigerator. I showed the children the part of the brain we are praying for. After they got over the "gross factor" (It is a photo of an actual human brain) they were agreed that it was good to have that reminder. We love you! -Heather Hoag

Nancy,
What an awesome insight to Garren's situation right now. Isn't it great the many ways that the Lord can calm our hearts and help us to understand things that we can't. Praying for you....
