In case you are wondering, "Sunshine" is Garren's nickname.
Garren had a good day today. He continues to show small signs of response. Today in one of his therapy sessions, I got to see him trying to move his head again. He works hard for a few minutes, then starts to close his eyes, like he's tired. We try to keep him awake during therapy. So the therapist started asking him about the Carolina/Duke game coming up this weekend. Garren's eyes popped open! He definitely hears and understands what is going on around him.
I know you are probably wondering about the results from the sleep study. So am I. We are still waiting to get the official results back from the pulmonologist (lung doctor). As soon as we know something for sure, I will let you know.

And yet again, you've brought tears to my eyes. How awesome for the kids to support him like this and how awesome for you to be there with them. Ya know, through the rain and storms, it's so great to know there's "sunshine" just around the corner. We are so thankful to hear he's understanding and working hard to respond. It makes my heart smile to read of his progress every day. Tell him we're so proud of him! Continuing to pray...and pray...to the awesome God we serve. In for the long haul, The Sisk Family

Garrens night was amazing. all the t-shirts were sold and also the bracelets! It was also good to see rival teams not hate each other when it was Garrens night. so yeah. It was a good night! (:
Love that nickname, "Sunshine". Makes me think of a song by Neal Diamond, "Captain Sunshine". Mr. Mike chose it for a video of photographs he made of Tom. We love it so much that I now nickname one of my four boys Captain Sunshine because out of the four he's the one always smiling. I can't wait for the day your sunshine smiles again and brightens everyone around him with his smile!
I haven't been able to check your post for several days until this evening - now I know why...it was all part of HIS plan! Just wanted to share with you...
We have a Prayer Board where I work. I was updating some prayer requests today that included Garren. I was debating the right prayer request. God is so good! As I was trying to find the "right words" God led me to ask for continued "baby steps" in Garren's healing. At first, I wasn't sure that that was what I should ask for. Was that enough? "Baby steps" seemed so simple but I remembered reading some of your earlier posts referring to these "baby steps" and their importance. Now having read your posts from the past couple of days, I see why God tapped my heart with "baby steps". Each and every "baby step" that is taken holds so much importance. Whether it's in the healing of the physical body or the spiritual body. Just as we as Christians take baby steps (and sometimes leaps) in our walk with HIM! May Garren continue to take baby steps in his recovery and maybe even a couple of leaps along the way! Praise God for your testaments each and every day! You all have helped so many of us continue our "baby steps" with Christ - HE is truly amazing in how HE uses us to minister to one another! God bless you!
Janes Family,
Every piece of news is an encouragement! We give praise to the Lord for this news and will continue praying that Garren will waken to his former self and the Lord will restore him to health in every way. God may choose to use any avenue to accomplish this, we are all along for the ride to see what He is going to do in this situation. To God be the glory! Amen.
Progress is progress. Still praying for you guys. :) It was nice to see you this past Sunday, Pastor Geoffrey!

Praising God for your precious Sunshine boy! I am blessed to be a tiny part of his journey and wait with anticipation the fullness of what God will do in and through him. I am especially excited to hear about his response to the ball games. I so remember being able to hear things around me, understand them and yet not being able to respond. I continue to pray for Garren's first words. Love to all of you.

Keep it up, Sunshine! These are wonderful progress reports. Every day gets better and better.
The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I have hope in Him." Lam. 3:22-24 (NASB)
He is able!
What an awewome time for you. God Bless these kids who reigned sunshine on you. It is great to hear that Garren is progressing. God is so generous with His love, and never fails us. We will continue to pray for Garren and the entire Janes family. We love you all so very much. May God bless you and keep you all well! Sandra & Rich
Still Praying...
It was so amazing to see how the parents and kids came out to support Garren last night. I know in my household they couldn't wait to get there. It was like they had tickets to Carowinds..(or at least something close to that!) Racheal enjoyed getting to play with Kelsey...she and some other girls helped her plant her garden! HA! She is so darling!
We continue to pray for more progress, more grips of his hand around your and smiles to come!
Love you all,
Donna, Ritchie, Racheal, Katherine, Luke, Madelyn and Brady
This blog was suggested to me by a friend from Southbrook. I am a freelance journalist for two sites, Yahoo and the local Examiner for Charlotte. I would to do a story on Garren if it would please you. My e mail is krismcgraw@aol.com . Thanks for taking time to consider this request.
So much encouraging news!! Yet, I feel that at times, it is still hard as you wait for the baby steps to be a bit stronger, a bit bigger...when tempted to be discouraged, breathe, and lean on His arms...sometimes, you don't have to pray..just lean...we love you...praying until you tell us to stop, SAndy & Russ
What an appropriate nickname "sunshine". As I think of Garren and your entire family I think of how brightly the "Son" is shining through your family. We are praying for the long haul and praying specifically for todays surprise!
The Kanipe Family
I'm so glad there was a Garren Janes night! I just wish I could have gone! I'm praying for the Janes family. Every baby step will add up in the end.
